When we pair it right down to the core, to the very heart of the matter – what is the essential inner-resource that we can call upon to face and overcome, not just the rigorous demands of our day-to-day, but when we, someday soon, experience a tragic accident, an injury, loss of income, a worrying diagnosis, or the death of someone we love?
What is it that will not only provide us with the inner-fortitude to move ahead, but more importantly, to learn from the experience to enable us to bounce-back-better than before?
It’s resilience...grit, character, adaptability…it’s bouncebackability-baby!
Life is f’ing hard and uncertain, tossed in with all good-stuff like sunsets, coffee and the ocean, we’re also faced with unrelenting, anxiety inducing stresses – from global pandemics, climate change, environmental degradation, populism, AI, failing economies, skyrocketing mental health, not to mention the personal life-challenges, the ones closer to home – the safety, health and wellbeing of our family and love ones, our careers, mortgages, bills, commuting, social commitment, kids sports commitments on the weekends, working from home…it all takes its toll.
The reality is our lives are challenging and stressful, so, it would make sense that we do everything we can to foster and protect our mindset, behaviours and lifestyle habits that supports and builds our mental and physical health aka our resilience.
Sadly though, this mostly isn’t the case.
The evidence is found within our own impulsive-choices and the coping mechanisms and self-rewarding tactics we engage when, we’re struggling, fatigued or stressed.
Humans have a wonderful ability to actually exacerbate their stress-load and ill-health exactly at the time when they should be doing the opposite.
Rather than engage our self-preservation ‘mode’ when we’re physically and mentally fatigued, we can tend to take the “I’ll sleep when I’m dead”approach, accelerate and flagrantly disregard what we should be doing, whilst encouraging enabling-thinking patterns that motivates us to seek behaviours and habits that contravene our true human essence…to thrive.
The act of self-preservation is sadly an afterthought for most and really only ‘activated’ when we’re struck with an illness or tragedy.
Our physical and mental wellbeing cannot be outsourced, nor can it be something we do ‘some of the time’…this is especially pertinent as we get older.
It’s what we think & do ‘most’ of the time that will dictate our habits, our outcomes and set the course of our life-trajectory.
Welcome to M.E.T.A.RESILIENCE…
What’s the M.E.T.A?
M.E.T.A. is an acronym for Most Effective Tactic Available.
The ‘word’ META in Greek means ‘beyond’, ‘change’ or to ‘shape’…as in ‘metamorphosis.’
So when it comes to METAResilience, I am referring to the tactics, I believe, we all need to hone and master ‘if’ we’re wanting to not only improve our resilience, but achieve a profound and fundamental upturn in our health and our life-trajectory.
The METAResilience ‘program’ being launch later this year, follows a very simple philosophical approach to our own self-improvement / self-awareness.
The Socratic….Know Yourself to Choose Yourself.
I’ll keep this short, and expand in future articles…but simply put…
1. Every choice we make, has a corresponding problem, hurdle or obstacle that comes with it…and I mean every choice.
2. The better we know ourselves, the better the choices we make for ourselves. aka ‘conscious thinking’
3. The better the choices, the better the problem, hurdle or obstacle we face
4. The better the problem we face and overcome, the more fulfilled we are…and the more resilient we become.
So the initial topic to unpack here is how do we get to know ourselves better?
Well, I’m proposing using M.E.T.A Resilience to provide the perfect segue to not only begin the journey of self-discovery, but become calmer, healthier, fitter, leaner & stronger in the process.
To weaponise ourselves physically and mentally so that we’re resilient enough to not only take on anything that we want, and to embrace the obstacles that arise, but have the fortitude, the inner-citadel to be a pillar of resilient strength when times get tough.
When you are needed most, you are there – either for yourself, or a love one

Over the coming weeks and months I will continue to not only expand this concept, but develop online coaching courses and information
e-book’s on all topics relating to METAResilience – sleep, mindset, routines & rituals, intelligent nutrition, structuring habits etc
I’m also very excited to announce that I am developing a strength training program, again available online. ‘IntensionTraining’ or“IntentionTraining” (haven’t decided yet) will be a functional strength training program for +40 year females and males, with little or no equipment required…maybe a dumbbell or kettlebell.
The current website is currently a ‘static’ site, however this will be overhauled in the coming months and reflect a commercial site that will allow me to publish video and provide downloadable products and deliver e-commerce solutions.
I will also be aligning myself with some key affiliates that will support and enhance the MyFutureSelf services and offerings – so stay tuned.
